Passport validity
Hungary follows Schengen area rules.
To enter Budapest, your passport must have:

An ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after 17 April 2026.

A ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the 15 April 2026.
Please check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements and renew your passport if needed.

Local time in Budapest is 1 hour ahead of the UK and Ireland.
Climate
The average daytime temperature in April is 18°C; however evening temperatures can drop to around 8°C.
We recommend packing plenty of layers for cooler mornings and evenings, as well as a waterproof outer layer. Consider comfortable footwear for the cobblestone streets.
Dress code
The daytime dress code is casual, with closed-toe and flat shoes required for the activity. The evening dress code is smart casual.
Currency
The official currency in Budapest is the Euro (EUR).
Contactless and credit card payments are widely accepted at most restaurants and shops, but some establishments may charge a small fee for card payments
